Adding color to builder beige?

We recently bought a brand new built home. It is a duplex so not large. We have builder beige walls everywhere. We want to paint the main dining room wall but are not sure what color to do it in. We have dark brown modern cupboards in the kitchen, dark brown furniture and fireplace with beige floors. We are afraid to try red because it's a small space and only 1 wall in the dining room. Any ideas?
