At what age did your baby grow out of his/her infant car seat?

My son is 2.5 months old and is 25.5 inches long. We have an even flo car seat that says the maximum length is 26 inches. I am sooo not ready to have to carry him in and out of the car without the detachable carrier... ugh. Anyone else have a tall baby? How old was your baby when they didn't fit in the carrier?
