Could a lot of Mexicans of euro olive skin descent be mistaken for mestizo?

Okay a lot of mexicans think they ar not white but many come from spain or even france or italy or portugal other latin european countries but whats funny is that a lot of them think they are native american mexican or mestizo or of aztec descent but they are some that are actually white not mestizo they are caucasian not indian or anything like that. What do you guys think.
