Legal question - opinion?

Hello, I sought legal advice for a package enhancement. My lawyer put together a statement of claim in this respect. The company I worked for responded with a counterclaim of slander against me. My lawyer has not taken any action for a long time, while they continued to bill me. When I started asking them questions about my claim and expected some answers, they umed I want to change counsel and asked me where to send my file. My question is: can a lawyer drop your case just because you expect some answers for the money you pay them?
