Reboot and force into the menu options (hold down F9 and/or F12 keys). This list allows you to choose safe mode, DOS, and Last Known Good configuration. Last Known Good may not help, but it is worth a shot. If you want to return to factory defaults, I would use the restore disc that came with the laptop.
